The Terminal List Review (Amazon Prime Video) – A Realistic and Gripping Military Thriller

Platform: Amazon Prime Video
Episodes: 8
Genre: Action, Thriller, Conspiracy, Drama
Rating: 8.5/10

At first glance, The Terminal List may look like a typical military action series. However, if you give it some time and watch through the first episode, the story gradually unfolds into a gripping conspiracy thriller that keeps you engaged until the very end.

Plot

The story follows Lieutenant Commander James Reece, a highly skilled Navy SEAL commander whose entire platoon is ambushed during a covert mission. Reece is one of the few survivors, but after returning home, he begins experiencing memory issues and strange symptoms.

As the investigation progresses, Reece discovers that members of his team were unknowingly involved in a secret drug-testing program. The experimental drug was intended to improve combat performance, but it caused severe side effects and devastating consequences for the soldiers involved.

With his team dead and powerful people trying to cover up the truth, Reece begins a relentless mission to uncover the conspiracy. The series revolves around several key questions:

  • Who was responsible for the secret program?
  • Why were Navy SEALs used as test subjects?
  • Can Reece identify everyone involved?
  • Will he be able to take revenge on those responsible?

The answers unfold through a combination of intense action sequences, military operations, investigations, and shocking revelations.

What Works

One of the strongest aspects of the series is its authenticity. James Reece is portrayed as a highly trained Navy SEAL, and the show does an excellent job depicting military tactics, weapons handling, movement, planning, and combat operations. The attention to detail makes the action feel realistic rather than exaggerated. Former Navy SEALs were involved in helping maintain authenticity in the show's military portrayal.

Chris Pratt delivers one of the best performances of his career. His physical presence, combat sequences, and emotional intensity fit the role perfectly. Rather than feeling like an actor playing a soldier, he genuinely feels like a trained military operator.

The action scenes are intense, the screenplay is engaging, and the editing keeps the tension high throughout the series.

Spoiler Warning

One of the most memorable aspects of the ending is that Reece remains committed to his mission regardless of personal relationships. The story stays true to the character that has been built throughout the season, leading to a powerful and emotional conclusion.

Main Cast

  • Chris Pratt as James Reece
  • Constance Wu as Katie Buranek
  • Taylor Kitsch as Ben Edwards
  • Riley Keough as Lauren Reece
  • Arlo Mertz as Lucy Reece
  • Jeanne Tripplehorn as Lorraine Hartley

Final Verdict

The Terminal List is more than just an action series. It combines military realism, conspiracy, suspense, revenge, and emotional drama into a highly entertaining package.

If you're a fan of military thrillers, tactical action, and revenge stories, this series is definitely worth watching. The realistic combat sequences, strong performances, and engaging storyline make it one of the better action-thriller series available on Amazon Prime Video.
