Resort Episodes 85–88 Review: The Story Is Finally Taking Shape

The latest week of Resort, covering Episodes 85 to 88, was once again a very interesting watch. What makes these episodes stand out is that the story is no longer simply moving from one dramatic situation to another. Instead, the different storylines that were introduced earlier are slowly coming together, and we are finally getting a clearer picture of where the series is heading.

Last week, we saw Nedumaran's vicious plan involving his kitchen associate Vicky. Vicky was deliberately left inside the RR Resort to act as Nedumaran's eyes and ears, with the intention of bringing the resort down from within.

We already know that the resort is facing serious financial problems. If the situation continues to worsen, the property could eventually go into a bank auction. Nedumaran appears to be taking advantage of this situation and is working towards making sure that the resort reaches that stage. His role as one of the major antagonistic forces in the series is becoming increasingly clear.

Vetri and the Star Chef Competition

One of the major developments this week is Vetri's involvement in the kitchen and his determination to participate in the Star Chef competition.

Earlier, we saw Vetri searching for a former Star Chef competition winner whose signature was required for his nomination. His search finally leads him to Raja Durai, a former champion.

Finding Raja Durai is not easy. Vetri has to struggle and convince him to return to the world of cooking and support his participation in the competition. Eventually, Raja Durai agrees after hearing Vetri's backstory and understanding why Vetri is doing all of this.

However, there is one particular moment that caught my attention.

When Vetri mentions that he is doing all this for his father, Chidambaram, we can notice a slight change in Raja Durai's expression. It feels as though the name means something to him.

This could be an important clue.

Maybe Raja Durai already knows Chidambaram. Maybe there is some connection between them that we haven't been told about yet. At this point, nothing is confirmed, but the way the scene was presented makes me feel that there is definitely more to Raja Durai's past.

Vicky Creates Another Disaster

Meanwhile, Vicky continues doing exactly what Nedumaran wants him to do.

Rajan, the current CEO of the resort, arranges an important investors' meeting and tries to showcase the value and potential of the RRR Resort. The food presentation becomes an important part of that meeting, with Vicky involved in handling the kitchen.

But, as expected, things don't go according to plan.

Vicky creates another disaster and ultimately walks out of the resort after damaging the investors' meeting. This once again shows how effectively Nedumaran's plan is working from inside the resort.

However, instead of giving up, Vetri takes this situation as a challenge.

He makes a strong decision that he will win the Star Chef competition and use that achievement to bring the resort back to where it once was.

But Vetri cannot do this alone. He needs the support of everyone around him, and that sets up an interesting phase for the upcoming episodes.

Aishu's Track

Aishu's storyline is also moving forward.

She is undergoing intense preparation and training under Nedumaran. At the same time, she appears to be disturbed by her thoughts about Vetri.

The series has not completely revealed where this emotional conflict is heading, but it adds another layer to the story.

It will be interesting to see how Aishu's preparation, her relationship with Vetri, and Nedumaran's plans eventually intersect.

Who Is Raja Durai Really?

For me, one of the most interesting introductions this week was Raja Durai.

The character has been introduced in a very different manner. He is a former Star Chef competition winner, but his current life is completely different. We see him living a seemingly isolated life near the beach, drinking and spending time around the sea.

That immediately raises questions.

How did a Star Chef champion end up living this kind of life?

What happened in his past?

And most importantly, what does he know about Chidambaram?

I have one personal theory about this, although this is purely my assumption and not something confirmed by the series.

Perhaps Raja Durai and Chidambaram met at some point in the past, possibly during a difficult period in their lives. One possibility is that they could have met while Chidambaram was in jail, where they may have shared their respective stories. Raja Durai may know what actually happened to Chidambaram and why he ended up in that situation.

Again, this is just my prediction. The upcoming episodes may completely prove me wrong, or they may reveal something similar.

That's what makes Raja Durai's character interesting right now.

The Story Is Finally Coming Together

One thing I really appreciate about Resort is the way the story is progressing.

As we have discussed before, many television and online series tend to stretch their drama unnecessarily. Sometimes the same conflict is repeated for several weeks without actually moving the story forward.

Resort is doing something different.

Earlier, we were getting small pieces of different storylines. There were several characters, conflicts and situations, but the bigger picture wasn't completely clear.

Now, after 88 episodes, those pieces are slowly coming together.

Nedumaran's plan is becoming clearer.

Vicky's role inside the resort is becoming clearer.

The financial problems of the resort are becoming more important.

Vetri's Star Chef competition storyline is taking shape.

Raja Durai has been introduced with a potentially important connection to Chidambaram.

Aishu's training and her feelings towards Vetri are also developing.

So, every week, another piece of the puzzle is being added.

That is what makes these recent episodes interesting. The series isn't simply creating drama for the sake of drama. The story is actually progressing, and each episode feels like it is taking us somewhere.

Only a Few Episodes Left

The first season is supposed to consist of 100 episodes, and we have now crossed Episode 88.

That means there are only a few episodes remaining in Season 1.

Personally, I feel that the Star Chef competition could become the major climax of this season. Vetri has now taken the responsibility of winning the competition, and his victory could potentially become the turning point for the RRR Resort.

Whether that prediction comes true or not, it certainly looks like the series is moving towards a major confrontation.

Final Verdict

Overall, Episodes 85–88 were another strong set of episodes for Resort.

The story is progressing, the characters are becoming more interesting, and the different plotlines are finally starting to connect. The introduction of Raja Durai was particularly intriguing, and I am very curious to learn about his past and his possible connection with Chidambaram.

As usual, the background music was also very good and helped elevate several scenes.

Most importantly, the series continues to avoid unnecessary dragging. Instead of stretching one particular drama for weeks, the writers are gradually moving the larger story forward.

With only a few episodes left in the first season, the Star Chef competition appears to be becoming increasingly important.

Now the biggest questions are:

Will Vetri be able to win the Star Chef competition?

Can he save the RRR Resort from its financial crisis?

What exactly does Raja Durai know about Chidambaram?

And what is Nedumaran's final plan for the resort?

We'll have to wait until next Friday to find out what happens next.

Let's wait and watch.
